Join us for a really exciting workshop with the queen of Vegan Cameroonian cuisine- Gwafuvegan.

We have had the pleasure of hosting a tasty vegan supper club with Ngwafu to a Kitchen residency for a month in January. We now have this rather exciting workshop for you to join us in where you will learn to make Puff Puff with Ngwafu, create your own toppings and then enjoy a delicious Vegan supper from us at Yes Lah!

A bit about Gwafuvegan:

Gwafuvegan specializes in cooking and delivering affordable vegan West African food, with a focus on high-quality, sustainable produce that is locally sourced. Gwafuvegan's one aim is to spread the love of vegan food and passion for West African cuisine. Ngwafu delivers high-quality catering and pop up at markets/events in the North West, showcasing new and exciting flavours to Manchester's ever-growing diverse community.

What are puff puffs?

Puff puff are tasty doughnut-like balls originating in West Africa. Popular in Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana, they can be eaten as a savoury side dish, indulgent dessert or even just a tempting snack. Puff puffs are perfect for sharing (or not sharing..) and are going to be the dish that everyone will talk about at your next gathering.

Get the tips and know how on making puff puffs with Ngwafu, a recipe passed down through her family and one thing you can pass onto your loved ones. All the ingredients and equipment is provided, including aprons so just come along for a really fun, interactive and delicious evening.

February Cultural Cuisine Club - Gwafu Vegan

For February, we are joined by GwafuVegan. The Cultural Cuisine Club by ABDAxHALA offers a cultural culinary experience, immersing guests in a diverse array of international flavours and traditions.


£40 per person - 3 course menu of West African Cuisine - Starters/sides will be allocated per table, with Mains and Desserts served family style. - Everyone will be entitled to one portion of each course initially to ensure everyone gets their share, and then are welcome to seconds/thirds if there is food left (no one will go hungry at Abda’s!).

- The regular Abda drinks menu will be available, alongside a bespoke Cocktail Menu. - “BYOB” for a corkage fee of £5pp. - Dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for.

Freedom from Torture - Charity Event

We will be serving our very popular sweet Puff puffs at Freedom from Torture Event.

The Great Street Feast Manchester - a food-themed fundraising event supporting human rights charity, Freedom from Torture.

to offer rehabilitation to asylum seekers and refugees who have been tortured, alongside campaigning for a fairer asylum system, including against the deportations to Rwanda. We recently won Overall Winner at the Charity Awards in 2023 for our #StoptheFlights campaign, which you can find out more about here. We have a Clinical Centre in Manchester, which is based in Hulme, and supports survivors from across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria.

The event will take place at No 1 Circle Square, 1 Symphony Park, Manchester M1 7FS on Thursday 23rd November, starting at 6.30pm and finishing at 9.30pm.
