GRUB - Our first food stall
Sunday 14th August, we were invited to our first GRUB MCR event, in typical Manchester fashion, we were met with rain so it only seemed right to bring the West African sunshine. Integral to the Manchester Vegan scene, Plant Powered Sundays was Europe’s first weekly vegan street food event, now hosted at The Red Bank Project in the Green Quarter.
This event is any Vegan’s dream, it’s held in a cool venue akin to the ruin bars of Budapest (unfortunately, without the 24-hour opening times), but with plenty of indoor and outdoor space and a fully stocked Vegan bar you can fill your boots, guilt free.
Other vendors included yes! Donuts, who serve incredible vegan donuts bursting with flavour, Vegan House Foods with their delicious fast food inspired menu and Sababich providing Levantine street food. We showed up with a selection of our classics including; puff puff and beans, spicy jollof rice, spinach stew and fried plantain.
As GRUB was our first market, we learnt so much. I can’t say it was smooth sailing, but we have taken away an invaluable amount of knowledge for our future markets. What I can say is, it was a huge learning curve, a big success and we can’t wait for the next one.
It was so amazing to see our customers face to face for the first time (unless I’ve ever turned up at your house with a delivery) and to receive such positive feedback was brilliant. It definitely makes all the hard work worthwhile seeing you enjoy our food with a smile on your face.
Here’s to many more markets (hopefully without the rain) and seeing more of you very, very soon! Ensure you follow all of our social media channels to find out where we are going to be next.
Oh and most importantly THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CONTINUING TO SUPPORT US!
